Technology
As I sit here and contemplate what to blog about, I realize why some schools have a technology coordinator. This is different from a lan manager or the techy, keep it running, people. The technology coordinator tries to stay abreast of new technologies and how they can fit into the curriculum. This could be more than a full-time job. Some schools are using their Media Specialists in this role. My "media" interests lie more with the technology side. It would be grand if all school libraries could have 2 Media Specialists. It wouldn't have to be split book/paper vs tech/internet. Just someone else to share in the fun and stress.

Your description of a "technology coordinator" makes me think a lot of Michael's position here at the Library Commission. His title is Technology Innovation librarian, and his special responsibility is to stay on top of new technologies and how they can be used in libraries!
I so agree with you. Our on site tech person has several other hats and only has time to open blocked websites and keep up with usernames and passwords.
The off site person is the one who does the installing, troubleshooting, etc. and he also has other hats.
I often feel like I am the one who is trying to connect the curriculum, technology, teachers, students, and whatever else there is. Oh, and shelve the books too. I love what I do, but always feel like I need two of me to learn it all and get it all done.
